Miami Gardens , 31 March (H.S.): The Miami Open men's final between Novak Djokovic and 19-year-old Jakub Mensik was delayed 5½ hours, starting at 8:37 p.m. instead of the scheduled 3 p.m. due to rain and the completion of the women's doubles final. Rain began at 12:50 p.m. during the match between Mirra Andreeva/Diana Shnaider and Cristina Bucsa/Miyu Kato, with Andreeva and Shnaider leading 3-0.
After rain interruptions, the women returned at 5:30 p.m. but had to leave shortly before warm-ups due to more rain. They finally resumed at 6:50 p.m., and Andreeva and Shnaider won the match in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-2. Despite the delays, about three-quarters of fans remained in the stadium.
Djokovic aimed for his seventh Miami Open title and his 100th career title, while unseeded Mensik was in his first ATP 1000 final. The age gap of 18 years and 102 days between the players sets a new record for ATP 1000 finals.
