Thiruvananthapuram, 31 March(HS): Though Mohan Lal, the main character of the controversial movie Empuran, expressed sorrow over certain contents of the film, his fans or the Sangh Parivar are not amused by the antics of the former and said his apology tendered through social media was too little and too late.

In his social media posting, Lal said he would sit with his team (which include the Jihadi supporter Prithviraj who directed the move and Murali Gopi, the script writer) and take appropriate action to clear the doubts among his fans, the Hindus in the state strongly believe that Empuran was a movie made wth the sole intention of humiliating and disgracing them.

Mohan Lal’s close friend Major Ravi had gone to town proclaiming that Lal was innocent in the a la Emburan affaire as the producers, script writer and the director kept the story line as a secret from the superstar. But the latest claims by Mallika Sukumaran (mother of Prithviraj) and Lal himself point out that the latter was fully aware of the real intention of the director.

Moreover, one of the three producers of the movie, shot at a cost of Rs 250 crore, is Antony Perumbavoor, Lal’s personal driver. What upset the Emburan applecart is the stance of Gokulam Gopalan, proprietor of Kerala’s largest chit fund, who made it known that he would spill the beans about Emburan.

“Prithviraj is working in tandem with Jihadi elements and the banned Popular Front of India, a banned outfit. He is accused in the seizure of drugs like LSD, cannabis and MDMA from his flat in Kochi. It was his friends with links to senior officials in the Narcotics Bureau and ED who helped him to come out of the imbroglio,” said Sunil Vadayar, a political commentator who is seriously pursing the intricacies behind Emburan.

The movie has been shown since Monday morning after deleting certain controversial scenes and muting dialogues made out of distorted history.

P. Sujathan, author and political critic, said that Mohan Lal’s days as a superstar has come down and there was no possibility of him recovering the lost crown “Age is not on his side and he should understand that 65 is an age when one cannot play the role of chocolate hero” said Sujathan.
