Kolkata, 2 April (H.S.) – An elderly couple was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Kolkata’s Mukundapur area on Wednesday morning. Their bodies were discovered inside their residence in the Purba Jadavpur police station limits. While the initial investigation suggests suicide, several questions remain unanswered. The couple’s daughter has accused her brother and sister-in-law of murder, further complicating the case.

The deceased have been identified as 65-year-old Dulal Pal and his 58-year-old wife, Rekha Pal. According to the police, Dulal’s body was found hanging in the dining room, while Rekha’s body was discovered hanging in the bedroom. A suicide note was also recovered from the scene. The shocking incident came to light when the couple’s married daughter, unable to reach her parents over the phone, asked the neighbors to check on them.

The elderly couple lived in the house with their son and daughter-in-law. Their daughter has accused her brother, Sourav Pal, and his wife, Kalyani Mandal, of murdering their parents. Sourav is a physiotherapist by profession, while Kalyani works for a private company. The daughter claims that her parents were assaulted on Tuesday night and that neighbors heard sounds of a heated argument from their home.

Several aspects of the case have raised doubts for investigators. If it was a suicide, why were the bodies found in separate rooms? Was one of them murdered first, and was the scene staged to appear as a suicide? Who wrote the suicide note? The police are examining all possibilities.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are underway. Meanwhile, the son and daughter-in-law are missing, and efforts are on to locate them. The truth behind the deaths will be revealed only after the post-mortem report is received.
