Delhi, 30 March (H.S.): Gujarat Titans (GT) successfully defended their score of 196 by restricting Mumbai Indians (MI) to 160/6 in 20 overs. MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to field first, a decision that initially favored GT.
Openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill provided a solid start with a 78-run partnership. Sudharsan was the top scorer with 63 runs, while Gill and Jos Buttler contributed 39 and 38 runs, respectively. Throughout MI's innings, GT maintained pressure, preventing the visitors from establishing rhythm.
MI struggled with regular wickets, managing only a brief partnership between Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 48 runs, and Tilak Varma, with 29 runs. Despite attempts, MI could not recover from the early setbacks.
As a result, Mumbai Indians remain winless, sitting ninth in the league after two matches, following their earlier defeat to Chennai Super Kings.
Prasidh Krishna, awarded PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his exceptional bowling, expresses excitement about his first IPL POTM. He shares his eagerness to bowl, noting he hasn't waited so long in a T20 before, and emphasizes sticking to simple strategies rather than focusing on speed.
