Jagdalpur/Raipur, March 25 (H.S.): An encounter is currently taking place between police and Naxalites along the border of Dantewada-Bijapur-Narayanpur districts in Chhattisgarh. Police officials report that a security forces team was deployed for an anti-Maoist operation in the area. Since 8 AM today, there has been ongoing gunfire between the Maoists and security forces.
So far, a considerable cache of weapons and ammunition, along with the bodies of three Naxalites, has been recovered from the site. The operation is still active, and security forces have successfully encircled the Naxalites, with expectations that more Naxalites may be neutralized.
Authorities received intelligence regarding the presence of high-ranking members of the Bhairamgarh Area Committee of Naxalites in this border area, prompting the deployment of additional personnel from Dantewada and Bijapur. Police officials have labeled this operation as significant, and more detailed updates on the encounter will be released later.
