Delhi, 28 March (H.S.): The Delhi Assembly is set to convene on Friday to discuss various important issues, including the renaming of the Mustafabad Assembly Constituency and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit report on the functioning of the Delhi Transport Corporation.

This report, which was tabled by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in March, highlighted several operational inefficiencies and financial losses in the transport company under the previous AAP government.

The CAG report evaluated key aspects such as fleet management, revenue generation, and adherence to public transport policies, revealing a significant increase in liabilities and operational losses in recent years.

Additionally, BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht has moved a resolution to change the name of Mustafabad to Shiv Vihar or Shiv Puri, citing the sentiments of the constituency's voters.

Bisht believes that a change in name would better represent the predominantly Hindu population in the area.

In addition to the resolution on free distribution of gas cylinders, the Delhi Assembly will also witness discussions on the disposal of long-pending cases referred to various committees from the previous Legislative Assemblies. BJP MLA Abhay Verma presented a motion to dispose of these cases, which had been pending for years, during the current session of the Eighth Legislative Assembly.

The motion highlighted the need to address these cases, which had either not been examined or remained unresolved for a significant period of time. The resolution aims to consider these cases as disposed of and prevent any further actions being taken on them.

The discussion on these issues is expected to be a significant part of Friday's session at the Delhi Assembly.
