Delhi, 30 March (H.S.): Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized that India has long practiced sustainability, deeply rooted in its culture where nature is revered. He addressed the National Conference on Environment-2025, highlighting that Vedic literature offers wisdom for environmental harmony.

VP Dhankhar stressed the necessity for developed nations to adopt an integrated approach to planetary health to ensure human prosperity. Reflecting on the Bhopal gas tragedy, he pointed out the lingering consequences of environmental negligence and emphasized the lack of prior regulatory frameworks. He argued for evolving global environmental ethics, underscoring humanity's responsibility to protect and coexist with nature. He reminded that the Earth belongs to all living beings, advocating for optimal use of natural resources rather than consumption driven by fiscal power.

VP Dhankhar called for a collective shift in mindset towards preserving the environment and adopting conservation ethics, stating that achieving a harmonious relationship with nature involves positive engagement and commitment to sustainability for future generations.

VP Dhankhar emphasized the interconnectedness of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) with law, science, and ethics, defining NGT as nurturing green for tomorrow. He articulated a vision for the institution that enhances the relationship between humanity and nature, advocating for the evolution of environmental stewardship using advanced tools while maintaining a commitment to climate justice. He expressed a hopeful wish for peace to thrive in the sky, space, earth, water, and all plant life.
