Delhi, 25 March (H.S.): The newly elected BJP government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta, presented its first budget in the Assembly after 26 years. For the financial year 2025-26, the budget totals ₹1 trillion, marking a 31.5% increase from the previous year.
A significant allocation of ₹5,100 crore is designated to provide ₹2,500 monthly to eligible women. The capital expenditure for FY26 has been doubled to ₹28,000 crore. Additionally, ₹2,144 crore is earmarked for the PM Jan Arogya Yojna, providing Delhi residents with an insurance cover of ₹10 lakh.
The budget also includes ₹1,000 crore for transport links and ₹9,000 crore for sewer and water development.GPS will be installed in tankers in Delhi to end the tanker scam. It will be monitored in a command center, she said.
CM Gupta highlighted ten focus areas, emphasizing infrastructure improvements and enhancing women's safety through 50,000 new CCTV installations.
