Guwahati, 12 March (HS): Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya on Wednesday visited the permanent campus of SriSri Aniruddhadev Sports University at Chabua in Dibrugarh district and reviewed the progress of construction work.
During this, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. JP Verma informed the Governor about the form of the university and the current status of construction. At the same time, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (Building) Raj Kumar Chhetri presented a detailed report of the construction work.
The Governor said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sports have received unprecedented promotion in the country. In view of this, the state government is also giving top priority to the promotion of sports and development of infrastructure. This will not only provide an opportunity to hone the talent of the players, but Assam will also become an important center of sports education.
Governor Acharya directed the officials to complete the construction work expeditiously so that the university can become functional as soon as possible. He said that this institute will not only provide a platform to the budding sportspersons but will also become a centre of academic excellence in the field of sports science.
He assured all possible help from the Raj Bhawan to ensure the steady progress of the construction work. During this, he also interacted with the students and assured them that the university will be ready soon.
This visit of the Governor reflects the commitment of the state government to promote sports infrastructure so that Sri Sri Aniruddhadev Sports University can emerge as a premier institute of sports education and training in the country.
