Jorhat, 04 July (HS): A full-grown leopard that had been creating panic for several days in the Puroni Mati Tea Garden area of Jorhat was finally captured by the forest department on Saturday.
The leopard had repeatedly ventured into the human habitation around the tea garden, triggering fear among residents and tea workers. Following continuous monitoring, the forest team successfully trapped the animal in a cage without any reported injuries.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing concern over human-animal conflict in Assam, with frequent movement of wild animals into populated areas posing risks to both wildlife and local communities. Forest officials have urged people to avoid approaching trapped wild animals and assured that the leopard will be relocated as per wildlife conservation protocols.----------
