Guwahati, 04 July (HS): Raijor Dal president and MLA Akhil Gogoi launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday, saying he must abandon what he described as an arrogant and rigid attitude if he wants to safeguard the future of the Congress in Assam.
Addressing the media, Akhil Gogoi claimed that the Congress has no future under Gaurav Gogoi's leadership and remarked that the Congress MP should keep dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister. He alleged that unless Gaurav Gogoi changes his uncompromising political approach, he will fail to revive or protect the party's prospects in the state.
The Raijor Dal leader also defended his party's independent political strength, asserting that it could have won five to six Assembly seats in the last election had it not entered into an alliance with the Congress. According to him, such a performance would have earned Raijor Dal recognition as a state-recognised political party.
Akhil Gogoi further declared that his party would no longer appease the Congress and expressed confidence that Raijor Dal would either form the government or emerge as the principal opposition in the 2031 Assam Assembly elections.------------
