
Guwahati, 04 July (HS): Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das on Saturday inaugurated a two-day orientation programme for newly elected MLAs, stating that the training would help legislators gain a better understanding of Assembly procedures and become more effective public representatives.
Addressing the inaugural session at the Gopinath Bordoloi Bhawan auditorium, Das urged members to make full use of the sessions conducted by nine resource persons covering legislative procedures, debates, question hour, governance, leadership, economy, environment, budget, media and public welfare. He said such training would strengthen lawmakers' ability to meet the aspirations of their constituencies and the people of Assam.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika, Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia and Minister Neelima Devi also addressed the gathering, highlighting the responsibilities and functioning of the parliamentary system. Experts from academia, administration and media are participating as resource persons during the two-day programme.-----------
