Hooghly, 08 February (HS): A youth was allegedly shot dead from close range in Dankuni area of Hooghly district. The incident took place on Delhi Road in Dankuni on Friday evening. The name of the deceased is Bunty Saw.

As per information, Bunty was returning home from work in the evening. As soon as he reached near Grand City Residence in Ward 12, the miscreants blocked his way and shot him.

According to the police, after Bunty Saw was shot, he fell on the road and the miscreant fled. On information, the police of Dankuni police station immediately reached the spot. Bunty was taken to Serampore Walsh Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. High-ranking police officers have reached the spot and CCTV footage installed in the area is being examined. The search for the criminals is on.
