Cachar (Assam), 11 July (HS): On receiving information about suspected drug smuggling near the railway station, the Cachar police took action and arrested a woman near Arunachal Junction.
The arrested woman has been identified as 45-year-old Pranati Das, wife of Chandan Das and a resident of Pratapgarh in Agartala. During the search, 10 soap boxes hidden in the woman's underwear were recovered, which contained about 114 grams of suspected heroin.
The recovered material was seized in the presence of independent witnesses and under videography. On examination with a drug detection kit, it was found to be heroin. The estimated price of the seized heroin in the black market is around ₹57 lakh.
Police said that a detailed investigation into the matter is underway.
