Raipur/Dantewada, 7 February (HS): Naxalites have killed Sarpanch candidate Joga Barse from Aranpur Panchayat in Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Late Thursday night between 1 and 1.30 am, they entered the house of Sarpanch candidate Joga Barse and killed him.
Additional Superintendent of Police RK Barman has confirmed the incident.
Additional Superintendent of Police RK Barman said that late at night, a large number of Naxalites reached the house of Sarpanch candidate Joga Barse from Aranpur Panchayat. They broke the door of the house with an axe. Then they entered inside and killed him in front of his family members. Naxalites opposed the election.
After the murder, they went towards the forest. He said that Naxalites are worried and frustrated about the decreasing dominance among the villagers due to the security forces' penetration into the interior areas of Bastar. In such a situation, the Naxalites are blaming the rural tribals for the small and big successes of the security forces and killing them.
