Guwahati, 04 February (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working tirelessly round the clock to serve its customers and ensure timely delivery of essential commodities to the end users. Tinsukia and Katihar divisions have made steady progress in freight loading and unloading in January, 2025.

NFR CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma has said in a statement today that in January 2025, 0.1225 million tonnes of goods for various commodities were loaded in Tinsukia division, which is 15.9% more than the same period last year. A total of 273 wagons were loaded in a single day on January 24, 2025. Similarly, a total of 4124 wagons were unloaded in January 2025, while there were 3204 wagons in December 2024.

Further, the Katihar Division witnessed 0.2322 million tonnes of freight loading in various commodities during January, 2025 which is 21.19% higher than the same period last year. Similarly, a total of 15905 wagons were unloaded in January, 2025 which is the highest in this financial year.

Improvement was also observed in other operational parameters. The highest ever interchange of 158 trains with adjacent railway zones took place on 05 January, 2025. A total of 4235 trains were interchanged in January as against 4088 trains interchanged in the same month last year.

Continuous improvement in operational performance reflects the growing economic activities in the region. This rising trend in freight operations has not only boosted the economic dynamism of the region but also generated significant revenue for NFR. NFR continues to make steady progress in freight transportation. It is focused on technological upgradation to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its services, ensuring even greater growth in the future.
