New Delhi, February 21 (HS): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday strongly spoke on the subject of influencing Indian elections through foreign funding and said that all those involved in this dangerous strategy should be exposed.
Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar today presided over the valedictory ceremony of the 5th Rajya Sabha Internship Program at the Vice President's Enclave. Referring to the US President's comments related to influencing elections in India, he said that only the Indian people have the right to choose the leadership of the country. Manipulating it through any process is to weaken our democratic values.
He described President Trump's remarks related to India as shocking and said that he told that efforts were being made to form someone else's government in the country. This political covid infiltrates our society to destroy our democracy. In such a situation, he appeals from this platform that such people should be exposed.
The Vice President also mentioned the Uniform Civil Code and illegal infiltration. He said patience and tolerance are virtues but these should not be adopted at the cost of nationalism. We should change our mindset. We should share our concerns and bring a discourse in the society.
He spoke of wokeism and said that today people holding constitutional posts like President, Vice President or Prime Minister are ridiculed. These are not political posts. These are our institutions. But people fail to show even minimum respect.
