Mahakumbh
Nagar, 15 Feb (HS): In a historic initiative to fight plastic pollution,
Abhishek Gupta, CEO, Ekavo Agro Daily Pvt Ltd has launched a massive
cleanliness drive at the holy Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj. The initiative aims to
make the world's largest religious gathering, Sangam Maha Kumbh, polythene
free. Realising the urgent need for environmental protection, Abhishek Gupta
gave his organisation's employees two days off so that they could actively
participate in this cleanliness drive. Hundreds of volunteers enthusiastically
participated in this drive, working hard to remove plastic waste and spread
awareness about the dangers of pollution.
The
initiative coincides with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which is committed to
making Maha Kumbh 2025 plastic-free. The government has set ambitious targets
to reduce plastic usage as around 25,000 tonnes of waste is expected to be
generated during the Maha Kumbh. Reducing this environmental footprint is an
important step to maintain the sanctity of the holy site and promote
sustainability.
The
campaign has received widespread public support, with the local community and
devotees joining hands to ensure a clean and safe environment. Many have
praised this collaborative effort, calling it a model of environmental
responsibility. Abhishek Gupta said “This is an important step towards
protecting our environment and keeping our holy rivers clean. This initiative
is an exemplary model of corporate social responsibility and community
involvement. As awareness grows, more and more stakeholders are expected to
contribute to sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.”
A
call to action on a global scale: This initiative highlights the importance of
collective efforts in solving global environmental issues. With the
participation of crores of people in Maha Kumbh, this campaign sets an example
for other large-scale events to adopt sustainable waste management practices.
Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility of all of us.
