Hooghly, 5 December (H.S.): With the launch of the Paray Samadhan camp in the Battala area of Chuchura Municipality's Ward No. 8 on Friday, ongoing differences within the Trinamool Congress appeared to have ended. At the beginning of the programme, ward councillor Nirmal Chakraborty touched the feet of MLA Asit Majumdar, while the MLA blessed him by placing his hand on his head.
Chuchura MLA Asit Majumdar, Chuchura Municipality's Public Welfare Department councillor Soumitra Ghosh, and Ward No. 8 councillor Nirmal Chakraborty were present at the camp, which began on Friday. The MLA said that the Chief Minister has allocated ₹10 lakh to each booth for the Paray Samadhan project. The amount will be used for road, drain, and Anganwadi center construction. He added that a total of 1,300 works have been scheduled across Chuchura Municipality's 30 wards, and these must be completed within the next three months.
Recently, MLA Asit Majumdar reprimanded councillor Nirmal Chakraborty over the SIR work. Disgruntled, Nirmal resigned from his councillor post, though he later withdrew his resignation. Some time ago, differences arose between the MP and MLA over the construction of a playground and classrooms at the Balika Banimandir School in Chuchura. Factionalism is not new within the Trinamool Congress in Chuchura. Meanwhile, the new municipal chairman has not yet been sworn in.
Nirmal's resignation was creating an uncomfortable situation for the Trinamool Congress in view of the upcoming assembly elections. Therefore, the MLA and councilor resolved their differences during the Padaya Samadhan program before the situation escalated.
MLA Asit Majumdar said, If the work isn't done, I will scold him. I have no disagreement with Nirmal. He is very affectionate. He has the right to scold and to love me. I told him that he was a little behind in the SIR work here—perhaps he felt bad.
Meanwhile, councillor Nirmal Chakraborty also confirmed the end of the dispute. He said, There is no problem between me and the MLA. We have already met. If there is any shortcoming in the work, as the MLA, he can scold me.
