Guwahati, 31 December (HS): Assam recorded a significant improvement in case disposal in 2025, with around 95% of registered cases disposed of during the year, Special Director General of Police Munna Prasad Gupta said on Wednesday.
Addressing a review meeting, the Special DGP stated that nearly 70,000 cases were registered across the state during the year. He said sustained monitoring, timely investigation and improved coordination among police units contributed to the high disposal rate.
Gupta announced that police officers who consistently filed charge sheets on time and demonstrated efficiency in investigations would be rewarded. At the same time, strict disciplinary action would be taken against officials found guilty of negligence or delay in case handling.
The Special DGP said the police department remains committed to strengthening the criminal justice system and ensuring accountability at all levels to maintain public trust.---------------
