New Delhi, 29 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed delight over the maiden sea voyage of the Indian Navy's sailing vessel INSV Kaundinya, describing it as a vibrant embodiment of India's ancient maritime traditions and historical legacy.

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said he was immensely pleased to see INSV Kaundinya depart from Porbandar, Gujarat, for Muscat, Oman. Built using ancient Indian 'stitched ship' technology, this vessel beautifully showcases India's rich maritime heritage, he noted.

PM Modi congratulated the designers, artisans, shipbuilders, and Indian Navy personnel involved in constructing this unique vessel, crediting their dedicated efforts for bringing this historical ship to life. He extended his best wishes to the crew for a safe and memorable journey.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the voyage reaffirms India's historical maritime connections with the Gulf region and beyond, highlighting the nation's enduring seafaring prowess.

Notably, INSV Kaundinya is a faithful replica of a 5th-century Indian ship, meticulously crafted using traditional stitching techniques. This sailing vessel, now part of the Indian Navy's fleet, embarked on its inaugural voyage from Porbandar on Monday bound for Muscat.
