New Delhi, 29 December (H.S.): Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to stay its own earlier order on the Aravalli mountain range, emphasizing the government's unwavering dedication to its protection and restoration.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Yadav expressed his support for the apex court's directives. He clarified that the complete ban on new mining leases or renewal of existing ones remains firmly in place under the current circumstances.

Yadav stated, I welcome the Supreme Court's directives to stay its order related to the Aravalli range and to constitute a new committee for studying the issues. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change remains committed to providing all possible assistance for the protection and restoration of the Aravalli range. As per the prevailing situation, the complete prohibition on mining—whether for new mining leases or renewal of old mining leases—continues unabated.

The minister's response comes amid ongoing judicial scrutiny of the ecologically sensitive Aravalli hills, which span multiple states and play a critical role in regional environmental balance. His assurance underscores the Centre's proactive stance on balancing conservation efforts with legal compliance.
