24 Dec (HS): A police team from the Koraon police station in Prayagraj
district, Uttar Pradesh, encountered cow smugglers on Wednesday morning. One
cow smuggler was injured in the encounter. The police team admitted him to a
hospital for treatment. Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Chandra
Yadav said the cow smuggler injured in the encounter was a resident of Semriha
village in the Koraon police station area of Prayagraj district.
Accused
has been identified as Mohammad Zeeshan, son of Mohammad Idrish. The police
team recovered a country-made pistol and two empty cartridges from his
possession. He was admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment after being
shot.

Yamunanagar stated that a police team led by Inspector Rakesh Kumar Verma,
in-charge of the Koraon police station, was engaged in checking suspicious
persons and vehicles during wee hours. On Wednesday morning, near the Koraon
Tehsil intersection on Devghat Road, a wanted accused, Mohammad Zeeshan, son of
Mohammad Idrish, was signaled to stop under the Arms Act. Accused tried to flee
and fired at the police team with a pistol. The police team also fired in
self-defense, injuring Zeeshan in the leg. The police team took him into
custody and sent him for treatment. Based on the arrest and recovery, a case
has been registered against him at the Koraon police station under Sections 109
of the CrPC and 3/25 of the Arms Act and legal action is being taken.
