Guwahati, 24 December (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday paid rich tributes to eminent Assamese poet Nalini Bala Devi on her sacred punyatithi, remembering her immense contribution to Assamese literature.

In a social media message, the Chief Minister said that sorrow, mystery and the deep quest of life were the true essence of Nalini Bala Devi’s poetry. Through her powerful and sensitive writings, she gifted Assamese literature many timeless poems that continue to inspire generations.

Dr Sarma noted that Nalini Bala Devi’s life was filled with personal suffering, which she transformed into profound literary expression. By embracing pain through poetry, the revered poetess enriched and revitalised Assamese literature with her unique transcendental outlook.

The Chief Minister offered his heartfelt homage to the legendary poet, recalling her lasting legacy and unmatched contribution to the cultural and literary heritage of Assam.
