23 Dec (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Chaudhary
Charan Singh on Tuesday, saying the former prime minister devoted his whole
life to the well-being and development of villages, the underprivileged, the
disadvantaged, and farmers. Adityanath
was paying respect to the farmer leader on Charan Singh's birth anniversary,
known as Kisan Diwas. He stated that the BJP's double-engine
government is fully committed to ensuring farmer welfare and fulfilling
the principles of the Bharat Ratna awardee.
Pankaj
Chaudhary, the BJP's president in Uttar Pradesh, described Charan Singh as a
real farmer champion. In a post on X, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad
Maurya stated that his work in farmer welfare, social justice, and rural
empowerment has left a significant legacy for nation-building. Brajesh Pathak,
the state's deputy chief minister, greeted the farmers on the occasion. Charan
Singh, a staunch grassroots leader, was India's prime minister from July 28,
1979 to January 14, 1980. He was born in Meerut's Noorpur in 1902 and later
became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
