Lucknow,
23 Dec (HS): In the midst of an escalating cold wave spreading throughout
northern India, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged residents to
be calm and compassionate toward those in need. He stated that the state
administration is working sensitively and urgently to reduce the effects of
harsh weather conditions.
In
a post on X, he stated, “My respected citizens, the government is working with
utmost sensitivity and promptness to protect against the cold wave in North
India. Officials have been instructed to adopt a humane and highly sensitive
approach. As a citizen, you too can become a partner in this noble endeavor.
Look around you. Be sure to ask domestic helpers, sanitation workers, watchmen,
or others if they have adequate arrangements to protect themselves from the
cold wave. Human values and compassion are tested only in times like these.
Charity is our tradition. With the firm resolve of Antyodaya to Sarvodaya, we
are moving rapidly towards the goal of a 'developed Uttar Pradesh'.
The
Chief Minister stated that night shelters around Uttar Pradesh are operating at
full capacity to give relief to the destitute and disadvantaged. These shelters
include basic amenities such as comforters, blankets, drinking water, bonfires,
and heaters. He stated that students and relatives of patients from neighboring
areas are also being housed in these shelters. The CM stated that municipal and
tehsil administrations had been mobilised to provide woolen clothing and
blankets to the needy. Bonfires have been lit in strategic public spots to
offer warmth to those exposed to the cold overnight. He promised everyone that
they would not be left out in the cold. Cow shelters have also been outfitted with
additional blankets and bonfires to keep animals warm throughout the cold wave.
To
address safety issues posed by severe fog, more workers have been deployed to
highways, and awareness efforts are being carried out to prevent accidents. Adityanath
encouraged residents to take an active role in the relief operations. He urged
people to check on domestic servants, sanitation workers, security guards, and
others who work outside and ensure they are well protected from the cold.
Simple gestures, such as delivering a cup of tea or directing individuals to
government-run night shelters, may have a major impact, he added. CM Yogi
observed that such times put human principles and humanity to the ultimate
test.
