Chennai, 23 December (H.S.) : A crucial meeting of the district secretaries of the AIADMK Volunteers Rights Recovery Association is scheduled to take place at five in the evening this Tuesday in Vepery.

The gathering will be held under the leadership of senior leader Panruti Ramachandran, with former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam expected to make a significant political announcement. With the state assembly elections just a few months away, this meeting has gained immense importance amid growing speculation regarding the future political strategy and alignments of the veteran leader.

The meeting follows the recent organizational change where the committee was renamed as an association to consolidate supporters ahead of the polls. Earlier, Panneerselvam had expressed dissatisfaction, stating that he was being sidelined within the National Democratic Alliance, which eventually led to his decision to withdraw from the coalition.

However, his recent visit to New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reignited discussions about a potential return. While Panneerselvam termed the twenty-minute meeting a courtesy call to discuss the political situation in the state, insiders suggest that the BJP is interested in his return to the alliance.

According to the statements from sources within the camp, the leader has reportedly placed a firm condition for any reconciliation. He has conveyed to the central leadership that he would not rejoin the alliance until a process for the reunification of the AIADMK is completed.

This stance highlights his ongoing struggle to regain control and influence within the original party structure. Political observers believe that the decisions made during today’s district secretaries' meet will be pivotal in shaping the political course for Panneerselvam and his followers as the election campaign intensifies across Tamil Nadu.
