Bhubaneswar, 23 December (H.S.) : Four tourists from West Bengal were rescued from drowning by lifeguards while bathing in the sea at Puri beach on Tuesday, averting a potentially fatal incident.

The incident occurred at Sector No. 9 beach near Chaitanya Chhak, where the tourists had entered the water together. According to sources, they were swept into deeper waters by strong currents and began struggling to stay afloat.

Other beachgoers noticed the situation and immediately alerted the lifeguards deployed in the area. Responding promptly, the lifeguards rushed into the sea and successfully rescued all four tourists, bringing them safely back to shore.

The rescued tourists were administered first aid and were reported to be in stable condition.

The timely intervention by the lifeguards ensured that no loss of life occurred. The incident once again highlights the critical role of lifeguards in ensuring beach safety, especially during periods of heavy tourist inflow.
