South 24 Paragnas, 23 December (H.S.): A married woman's suspicious death in Narendraput area of South 24 Parganas has caused a major sensation in the locality. Her husband and other in-laws have been accused of murdering her, allegedly due to a family dispute that began over her talking on the phone, stemming from the husband's suspicion. The police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem, and have launched an investigation into the matter.

As per police sources, the deceased has been identified as Shubhra Sardar. She was a resident of the Katakhal area under Baruipur police station. She had met Rana Sardar, a resident of the Kelegore area of Narendraput, through social media. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a romantic relationship, and with the consent of their families, they got married in April of this year.

However, disputes between the couple began soon after the marriage. According to family members, Shubhra's husband, Rana Sardar, frequently argued with her about her talking on the phone. He suspected that his wife was having an affair with someone else. This suspicion led to increasing domestic discord.

Last week, Shubhra had gone to her parents' home for the Poush Mela (a local festival). On Sunday, her father-in-law brought her back to her marital home. The very next day, on Monday afternoon, news of Shubhra's death reached her parents' home. Her family alleged that there were several injury marks on Shubhra's body, clearly indicating that she was murdered.

The deceased's father, Mana Sardar, has filed a written complaint at Narendraput police station. The complaint names her husband Rana Sardar, father-in-law Bhadreswar Sardar, mother-in-law Sukkuli Sardar, and brother-in-law Rakesh Sardar. The police have registered a case of murder and have initiated an investigation.

The post-mortem report is currently awaited, which will provide further clarity on the cause of death.
