Lucknow,
22 Dec (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath informed the state Assembly on Monday that there have
been no deaths in the state as a result of codeine-based cough syrup, and that
the issue is being prosecuted severely under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances (NDPS) Act. Addressing the House, the Chief Minister stated that
there had been no deaths in Uttar Pradesh as a result of codeine cough
medication. Second, action will be taken in this matter under the NDPS Act. The
Uttar Pradesh government won the matter in court. Third, in Uttar Pradesh, the
largest wholesaler, who was first caught by the STF, was granted a license by
the Samajwadi Party in 2016.
Yogi Adityanath provided specifics on the
actions taken thus far, stating that the administration has registered 79
cases, named 225 suspects, and arrested 78 persons. He also stated that raids
had been conducted on 134 businesses. So far, the government has reported 79
cases. These cases have named 225 accused. So far, 78 accused have been
apprehended. He added that 134 companies had been raided. The Chief Minister
further said that linkages to the Samajwadi Party might surface as the probe
develops. I believe that if you look deeper into this issue, you will discover
that some Samajwadi Party leader or individual is involved.
The High Court has determined that the entire
matter would be pursued under the NDPS Act. The Uttar Pradesh administration
has won the war, he stated. The Chief Minister issued a harsh warning to those
implicated and stated that the government will take strict measures against
anyone responsible. No one will get away with it in this instance. Don't fear,
when the time comes, bulldozers will be prepared. Don't complain, he added.
CM Yogi implicitly addressed Akhilesh Yadav by
saying, 'Desh ke andar do namune hain' (This country has two specimens). One is
in Delhi, while the other is in Lucknow. When there is any dispute in the
country, they quickly depart, and I believe the same is true for your 'Babua'. He
will also leave the nation for a trip to England, and you will continue to
yell.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated in the
Assembly on Monday that no deaths have occurred in Uttar Pradesh due to codeine
cough syrup. The opposition is misleading. An investigation is underway. Upon
reaching the bottom of the investigation, only members of the Samajwadi Party
will be found guilty. He assured that strict action will be taken against those
involved.
During the question hour in the Vidhansabha,
the Leader of the House and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in response to the
opposition's question, said that the member had asked one question and was
saying something else in the House. The issue was the death due to fake
medicines in Uttar Pradesh. The answer given was that no deaths have occurred.
The member should have read the rules of the Vidhansabha before coming. The
Leader of the Opposition also raised the issue of codeine. That is why I had to
stand up. The Chief Minister said that there have been no deaths due to codeine
in Uttar Pradesh. The person who was caught by the STF in 2016 was given the
license by the SP government itself.
The Chief Minister said that the issue of
codeine cough syrup is a case of illegal diversion. These people have smuggled
codeine into countries where it is banned. People misused it. In fact, it says
it should be taken on the advice of a doctor. Our government is taking action
against this. 78 people have been arrested. 134 firms have been raided in UP.
If we get to the bottom of this, we will find someone from the SP. The
transaction was made from the account of an SP Lohia Vahini official. The
investigation is underway. The bulldozer has not gone anywhere. The government
is ready to take action. No one should be disturbed when the bulldozer moves.
SP member Atul Pradhan raised the issue of
codeine cough syrup while asking a question. Before Atul Pradhan, the Leader of
the Opposition raised this issue as soon as the House proceedings began. SP
members reached the well and protested.
