
North 24 Paragnas, 22 December (H.S.): Abdul Alim Molla, the main accused truck driver in the fatal attack on Bholanath Ghosh, a key witness in the Sheikh Shahjahan case in Sandeshkhali, was arrested late Sunday night by Nazat police. According to police sources, he was apprehended from Minakhan area of Basirhat.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Abdul Alim Molla was driving the truck at the time of the accident. The police are now investigating whether he was hired to carry out the attack. After the incident, the accused fled the scene on a motorcycle. This immediately raised questions about whether it was merely a road accident or if there was a deeper conspiracy behind it.
The incident occurred on the morning of December 10 in the Boyarmari area of Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district. A head-on collision between a truck and a four-wheeler resulted in the car falling into a ditch by the roadside. Local residents rescued the people trapped in the car and took them to the hospital. Two people died on the spot.
Later, it was revealed that the crashed car belonged to Bholanath Ghosh, a witness in the Sheikh Shahjahan case, and that he was also in the car at the time. Bholanath Ghosh's younger son, Satyajit, and the car driver, Shahnur Alam, died in the accident, while Bholanath Ghosh narrowly escaped.
Following the incident, Bholanath Ghosh filed a case of attempted murder against eight people at Rajbari outpost under Nazat police station in Basirhat. The truck driver was named as the primary accused in the FIR. The police have already arrested several people during the investigation, and now, with the arrest of the main accused, all aspects of the conspiracy behind the case are being thoroughly investigated.
