Kolkata, 22 December (H.S.): A fruit vendor was murdered with a sharp weapon in Rajabazar area of Kolkata in broad day light on Monday morning. The incident has caused considerable tension in Rajabazar area. The deceased has been identified as Mehtab Alam. The incident has instilled fear among the local residents.

As per information, the assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, suddenly attacked Mehtab Alam, inflicting multiple wounds. After the attack, the culprits fled the scene. Local residents rushed the profusely bleeding Mehtab to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

It is currently unclear what the motive behind this fatal attack was and who was involved. The police have launched an investigation into the entire matter and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers. Security has been increased in the area.
