Lucknow,

22 Dec (HS): On Monday, the second

day of the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the issue

of codeine cough syrup was raised in the House. As soon as the House met at 11

a.m., Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey raised the issue of codeine

cough syrup. Samajwadi Party members entered the well and created a ruckus for

some time. Following the Speaker's assurance, the SP members returned to their

seats. The House then proceeded.

Responding to the opposition's questions during

the Question Hour, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that all

facilities are available in all the hospitals of the state. There is no

shortage of medicines. Free testing is available. Medicines are available,

right from hospitals to primary health centers. He said that Prime Minister

Narendra Modi gave the Ayushman Bharat scheme to the people of the country.

Uttar Pradesh has made Ayushman cards for five and a half crore people. Even if

someone is not getting benefited from this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has

given more than Rs 1300 crore for treatment purposes. Brajesh Pathak said that

these people are not concerned about the treatment of the poor. They are

concerned about power. They are worried about getting published in the media.

That is why they come on bail.

Answering another question, Deputy Chief

Minister Pathak said that there is a Cancer Institute in the name of Kalyan

Singh. Facility for examination and treatment of cancer patients is available

in Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow. The state is going to build 67 day

care centers. Money is being given from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for

treatment only considering poverty. Earlier, SP member Samarpal Singh raised

the issue of health. He said that doctors do private practice. CT scan machine is

installed but there is a shortage of people to operate it. SP's Akhilesh also

raised a question related to health. SP members Brajesh Katheria and Kamal

Akhtar raised questions related to the recruitment of doctors.
