Attempt to divide people on communal lines will not succeed in TN says Thirumavalavan

Chennai, 22 December (H.S.) : Thol Thirumavalavan, the leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and an ally of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, has asserted that efforts by the Sangh Parivar to create communal divisions in Tamil Nadu will fail.

Speaking to reporters after attending a Christmas celebration in Melpuram, he claimed that various Hindu organizations are deliberately trying to stir conflict between the majority and minority communities.

He stated that these groups are using the recent legal dispute over the Thirupparankundram lamp lighting issue to spread religious fanaticism and gain a political foothold in the state, similar to strategies used in northern parts of the country.

The member of parliament criticized a recent court order that favored the lighting of a lamp atop a specific survey stone on the hill, describing it as an example of external influence over judicial processes.

He announced that his party has planned a major agitation in Madurai to protest against the judgment.

Thirumavalavan emphasized that the Secular Progressive Alliance is committed to maintaining social harmony and will not allow communal hatred to take root. He urged the public to remain vigilant against provocative narratives aimed at disrupting the long-standing peaceful co-existence in the region.

Responding to allegations that the state government is biased toward minority communities, the VCK chief dismissed such claims as mere slander. He maintained that the current administration represents all sections of society and continues to enjoy broad support from across different religious groups, including Hindus.

Authorities and alliance leaders have reinforced their stance that the state remains a stronghold for secular values.

Thirumavalavan concluded by saying that the people of Tamil Nadu are politically conscious and will reject any attempts to polarize society for electoral gains during the upcoming months.
