Kolkata, 21 December (H.S.): Trinamool Congress MP from Serampore Lok Sabha constituency, Kalyan Banerjee, has once again launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister's destination cannot be West Bengal, and that even God made this clear yesterday. Banerjee sarcastically remarked that the Prime Minister has told so many lies that even the weather didn't cooperate with him.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to address a public meeting in Taherpur, Nadia district, on Saturday, but his helicopter could not land there due to bad weather. The Prime Minister then addressed BJP supporters via phone and attacked the Trinamool government in West Bengal in his speech.
Reacting to this entire incident, Kalyan Banerjee said on Sunday that God himself has made it clear that the Prime Minister's destination is not Bengal. He alleged that Modi has previously made comments like jungle raj about Bengal, and each time the people of Bengal have given him a befitting reply. He questioned how a person who insults Bengal and Bengalis and deprives the state can develop Bengal?
Kalyan Banerjee accused the central government of not releasing the outstanding funds for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme. He said that this scheme is for the people of Bengal, yet despite the directions of the High Court and the Supreme Court, the central government is not releasing the funds. He said that the people of Bengal will never accept this mentality of constantly depriving them.
He accused the BJP of being unable to tolerate Bengalis. He claimed that the BJP has insulted great personalities like Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, and Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. He said that the people will give a fitting reply to this insult to Bengal and Bengalis in 2026.
Kalyan Banerjee also criticized the BJP on issues related to the Matua community. He said that the BJP has failed to fulfill the promises made to the Matua community. Questioning the claims of granting citizenship made by BJP minister Shantanu Thakur, he said that there is a constitutional process and government rules for granting citizenship. He alleged that money is being collected by gathering crowds and that documents with no legal validity are being issued.
Kalyan Banerjee claimed that the BJP has been winning elections by exploiting the sentiments of the Matua community until 2024, but now the Matua community understands that Narendra Modi will do nothing for them. He said that whatever work is done for the Matua community will be done by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
