Kolkata, 21 December (H.S.): In light of the ongoing violence and unrest in Bangladesh, instructions have been issued to prevent any kind of disorder from spreading to Kolkata. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma gave clear instructions in this regard during the Kolkata Police's monthly crime meeting on Saturday afternoon.

According to sources, the Police Commissioner said at the meeting that if there is any apprehension of unrest or disturbance in Kolkata due to the current situation in Bangladesh, immediate and strict action should be taken. Special surveillance has been ordered in sensitive areas under Kolkata Police's jurisdiction, and strict vigilance is to be maintained in the city, especially in the police station areas of the suburbs, during hearings related to the SIR.

Meanwhile, the festive season has begun in the city. Christmas and New Year are approaching. The Police Commissioner has instructed all police stations to remain vigilant to maintain law and order and security during the festivals. Night parties are held in the city on Christmas and New Year's Eve, and there is a large crowd on the streets late into the night. Therefore, special attention has been directed towards preventing harassment or any kind of misbehavior towards women.

In addition, strict action has been ordered against those driving under the influence of alcohol. Local police stations have also been instructed to conduct regular searches and raids on hotels and guesthouses.

The meeting also discussed the recent fire incidents in the city. An order has been issued to review the licenses of warehouses storing combustible materials. All police stations have been asked to collect information on the number of warehouses storing combustible materials in their respective areas and the types of flammable substances stored there. The Police Commissioner has instructed that legal action be taken against the concerned warehouses if any irregularities are found.
