15 Dec (HS): A 50-year-old man and his 75-year-old mother were killed after
their car was struck by a speeding unidentifiable vehicle here on Monday,
according to police. The event occurred in the morning on the Lucknow-Gonda
national highway near Birouli hamlet, and the man's wife sustained severe
injuries. According to police, the accident caused the automobile to be
severely damaged and deviate off the road. According to authorities, the
remains of the deceased were trapped within the wrecked truck and had to be
extricated with a gas cutter. Amit Pratap Singh, Station House Officer, stated
that the victims were traveling from Lucknow to their home in Shravasti. Singh
identified the dead as Santosh Kumar Mishra and his mother, Shanti Devi.
Another
woman, Santoshi Devi (48), suffered severe injuries and was taken to the
hospital.The
injured woman was brought to a hospital, where her condition is described as
critical, he added. The accident caused a lengthy traffic bottleneck on the
Lucknow-Gonda route, which was resolved following police involvement,
authorities added. Police say they are tracing the mysterious vehicle using
CCTV video. The deceased's families have been notified, and the remains have
been sent to the district headquarters morgue for postmortem inspection, police
said.
