15 Dec (HS): The Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) has taken
a significant step towards developing the Sharda Barrage in Lakhimpur Kheri as
a major tourist destination. The board has announced the agency selection
process for the project, which aims to present the Sharda Barrage as a brand-new
accommodation and wellness tourism destination, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and
Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said on Monday.
The
Minister stated that in today's fast-paced lives, people are returning to
nature, Ayurveda, and a wellness-based lifestyle. In light of this changing
trend, developing Uttar Pradesh as a robust accommodation and wellness tourism
destination has become the need of the hour. Our aim is to combine the state's
major natural sites with modern wellness facilities, creating an environment
where tourists can find optimal health, peace, natural and spiritual
experiences, all in one place.
Under
the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board's plan, the selected agency
will be provided land and will develop accommodation and a wellness center. The
selected agency will be responsible for all activities related to planning,
designing, construction, financing, and operation of the facilities. The
selected agency will also be fully responsible for the safety of tourists and
the project premises.
Tourism
Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that Lakhimpur's Sharda Barrage is rapidly
developing as a unique and multifaceted tourist destination, where the
tranquility of wellness tourism and the thrill of wildlife will combine to
offer visitors a unique experience. With the increasing influx of not only
domestic but also foreign tourists, this area will become a new emerging hotspot
for inbound tourism. Principal Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Charitable
Affairs, Amrit Abhijat, said, Sharda Barrage is being developed as a
wonderful combination of wellness, wildlife, and natural experiences. Our goal
is to establish this area as an attractive and sustainable destination for
domestic and international tourists.
