
Mumbai, 15 Dec (HS): The State Election Commission has announced dates of
elections in 29 municipal corporation in Maharashtra. The polling in all the
municipal corporations will be held on January 15 and the counting will be held
on January 16, 2026.
The Election Commission Chief Dinesh Waghmare
addressed a press conference on Monday to announce the dates. With the
announcement of elections, the Model Code of Conduct comes into force from
Monday. The notification will be issued on December 16 for Brihan-Mumbai
Municipal Corporation and on December 18 for others. Polling will be held
between 7.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The important dates relating to the elections are –
Accepting Nominations – Dec 23 to 30.
Scrutiny of Nominations – Dec 31.
Withdrawal of nominations- January 02, 2026.
Allotment of Symbols and Publication of final list of
candidates– 03 January.
Polling -January 15.
Counting of Votes – January 16, 2026.
Except Brihan-Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the
elections will be held in multi-member Prabhags, every Prabhag consisting about
four members. In some Prabhags there will be 3 or 5 members.
