West Medinipur, 14 December (H.S.): A controversial statement by a BJP MLA in West Bengal has once again made headlines. Shital Kapata, the BJP MLA from Ghatal, made offensive remarks against police officers, saying, All the OCs (Officer-in-Charge) will have one hand and one leg broken. They will walk like cripples. They will try to save themselves, so they won't go to save the Trinamool.
A 'Parivartan Sabha' was organized in Ghatal in West Medinipur on Saturday. Holding a microphone, BJP MLA Shital Kapata delivered this explosive statement during his speech. With the 2026 elections in mind, he issued a stern warning to administrative officials.
The MLA said, The police's hands and feet will be broken in the elections. The police will say, 'Let us save ourselves.' There will be no Trinamool BDOs or SDOs in the elections. Even in the 2026 elections, there will be no corrupt Trinamool leaders. The MLA's comments have drawn sharp criticism.
In this context, Trinamool President Ajit Maity said, The BJP is day dreaming. In the 2026 elections, Shital Babu's hands and feet will be completely numb and cold. Counting will start from the very first round. Trinamool will win all seven seats in this district.
Notably, attacks on the police are not a new phenomenon in West Bengal. Several leaders from both the BJP and Trinamool parties in the state have attacked the police with harsh words. Just a few days ago, Trinamool leader Anubrata Mondal from Birbhum attacked the police. He was even heard using abusive language towards his mother and wife in a phone call. However, Anubrata claimed that it was AI-generated. This also sparked considerable controversy.
