Two Contractors Arrested in Arunachal Accident That Killed 21 Workers


Tinsukia, 14 December (HS): In connection with the tragic road accident in the Hayuliang area of Arunachal Pradesh that claimed the lives of 21 workers, police have arrested two contractors who had arranged the transportation of the labourers to the state. The arrested contractors have been identified as Sirajul Ahmed and Chairuddin Ali, officials said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the bodies of 11 workers who killed in the accident are scheduled to be brought to Tinsukia on Sunday. Authorities said that efforts are still underway to trace four missing workers, with search and rescue operations continuing in the accident zone.

Acting on the directions of the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the ongoing rescue and recovery operations are being closely supervised by Assam Minister Bimal Bora and Minister Rupesh Gowala, who are monitoring the situation on the ground to ensure all possible assistance to the affected families and the missing workers.
