Lucknow,
14 Dec (HS): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Sunday
that he has a very close relationship with Uttar Pradesh. He was addressing
party members and leaders at an event in Lucknow after naming Union Minister
Pankaj Chaudhary as the new president of the Uttar Pradesh BJP.
Recalling
the party's triumph in the state's assembly elections in 2017, he stated,
When the then-BJP head, Amit Shah, advised Yogi Adityanath that you had
to go to Lucknow and assume command of UP...
This happened at my home in New Delhi. Adityanath was then a Lok Sabha
member who was appointed chief minister after his party won the Uttar Pradesh
assembly elections. Perhaps my relationship with UP has been very close, Goyal
added.
He
also referred to Lucknow as the karmabhoomi of previous Prime Minister Atal
Bihari Vajpayee. According to Goyal, Lucknow is more than just a city; it is
the capital of a particular state that the entire country looks up to. According
to him, Uttar Pradesh contributes the most to any government constituted at the
national level.
