22 Nov (HS): A serious incident of violence occurred today at Nazareth

Hospital, Prayagraj, where a doctor on duty was physically assaulted inside his

consultation chamber.

At

around 12:30 PM, Deepak Shukla resident of Chandpur Salori, accompanied by

Shivam Agrahari, Vivek Agrahari, Himanshu Singh and 4–5 other men, forcibly

entered Chamber No. 2, where Dr. R. P. Shukla was attending to patients.

Without any provocation, Deepak Shukla manhandled the doctor, beat him, and

attempted to strangulate him.

During

the assault, a lady patient and the nurse on duty who tried to intervene were

also attacked. Recognizing the severity of the attack, Security staff immediately

reached the spot, rescued the doctor, and prevented further harm. The injured

doctor, patient and nurse were shifted to the emergency department for urgent

medical care.

Nazareth Hospital strongly condemns this brutal

attack on medical personnel who were carrying out their duty to serve patients.

The administration has reiterated that violence against healthcare workers is a

punishable offence, and such incidents will not be tolerated.
