Guwahati, 22 November (HS):

The Assam BJP on Saturday said the 2026 Assembly Elections will be a decisive contest between the state’s indigenous population and the Miya-Muslim bloc of East Bengal origin. In a statement issued from Vajpayee Bhawan, party media panellist Dilip Kumar Sharma said Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken historic steps to protect Assam’s identity, including securing Classical Language status for Assamese, efforts to bring back the Vrindavani Vastra and major cultural and educational projects.

The party accused past Congress governments of neglecting indigenous rights due to appeasement politics.

The party highlighted strict action against child marriage, “love jihad” and “land jihad,” along with intensified measures to stop infiltration and remove illegal encroachments, freeing over 1,30,000 bighas of land.

The BJP said recent strategy meetings attended by senior leaders, including BL Santhosh and Dr. Sarma, have set the stage for comprehensive preparation ahead of the 2026 elections.---------
