ECI Reports Over 95% Enumeration Form Distribution in SIR Phase II

Chennai, 15 November (H.S.) : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a significant milestone in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, confirming that over 95 percent of the required enumeration forms have been successfully distributed in Phase Two.

This revision process, crucial for ensuring the accuracy of voter lists ahead of upcoming state and national polls, is currently being implemented across twelve states and Union Territories. The Commission had previously completed the first phase of the SIR in Bihar before the assembly elections there.

According to a statement from the ECI, the process adheres to a clear and structured timeline. The printing and training phases for the staff involved were concluded between October 28 and November 3. The current stage, the Enumeration Phase, commenced on November 4 and is scheduled to run until December 4. Following the field work, the draft electoral rolls will be published on December 9, marking the start of the next phase.

The period for filing claims and objections will then be open from December 9 until January 8, 2026. The subsequent Notice Phase, dedicated to hearings and verification of these claims, is slated to take place between December 9 and January 31, 2026.

The entire revision exercise is set to culminate with the official publication of the Final Electoral Rolls on February 7, 2026. The ECI continues to emphasize the importance of this process to ensure that all eligible citizens are accurately included in the voter list, upholding the integrity of the democratic exercise.
