Bhubaneswar, 3 January (H.S.): Former Mizoram Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Odisha during a special ceremony held at the Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The oath of office was administered by Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, Pravati Patida, and several other ministers, as well as Speaker Suarama Padhi and numerous dignitaries and officials.
Following his swearing-in, Kambhampati received a guard of honour at Raj Bhavan.
After taking his oath, Dr Hari Babu Kambhampatitook to social media to express his commitment: “Sworn in as the Governor of Odisha, a land of timeless culture, vibrant history, and unyielding spirit. I am dedicated to serving its incredible people and fostering progress, harmony, and growth. Together, let us strive to build a brighter future. Jai Jagannath, Bande Utkala Janani, Jai Hind.”
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi congratulated the new Governor, stating, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Odisha's 27th Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati. Warm wishes and congratulations to His Excellency Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati on assuming office.Your extensive political experience and leadership will further strengthen governance in the state and pave the way for building a prosperous and developed Odisha.”
Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik also extended his best wishes to the new Governor, statingin a social media post, “Congratulations to Hari Babu Kambhampati on being sworn in as the new Governor of Odisha. We look forward to working with him towards the state’s development and people’s welfare. I wish him a successful and fruitful tenure ahead.”
Kambhampati and his family arrived in the state capital on Thursday, where they were welcomed by the Chief Minister, Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Ahuja, and DGP Y.B. Khurania at the airport.
Upon their arrival, Kambhampati and his family visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the Lord's blessings for the welfare of the state and its people.
“I took the divine blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath ji, Bhagwan Balabhadra, and Maa Subhadra at Puri before assuming the responsibility of Governor of Odisha. May their grace guide me in serving the people of this sacred land with dedication and humility,” said Hari Babu Kambhampati after visiting the Jagannath Temple.
Kambhampati was appointed as the Governor of Odisha by President Droupadi Murmu on December 24, following Raghubar Das's resignation from the post.
