Guwahati, 29 January (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has implemented Audio-Visual Sectional Road Learning (LR) training in all its five divisions. This is another important step towards enhancing operational efficiency and safety in train operations under the zone. This latest initiative aims to provide an advanced learning resource to Loco Pilots (LP) and Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) to provide them with a realistic and in-depth understanding of the designated routes, station layouts, signalling systems and safety protocols.

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said in that the Audio-Visual Sectional LR video has been developed under the leadership of NFR Principal Chief Electrical Engineer Sandeep Kumar. The tool has been designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience by presenting real-time footage of railway tracks, station layouts, signal placements, gradients, curves and bridges. These videos, captured using in-house cameras mounted on engines, enable loco pilots to familiarise themselves with the intricacies of their respective routes before train operations. Loco pilots face many challenges in navigating large stations, goods and passenger yards within the limited time of specified trips. Recognising this, NFR has developed this system to provide an efficient and structured approach to sectional teaching. These videos are regularly aired in the crew lobby, ensuring wider reach and continuous learning.

The above move is in line with NFR’s commitment towards modernising training methodologies and equipping its workforce with state-of-the-art equipment for advanced railway operations. This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the railways to empower loco pilots with better preparation, improved route familiarisation and enhanced safety awareness, ultimately contributing to smooth and safe running of trains across NFR’s network.
