Guwahati, 30 January (HS): The National Cadet Corps (NCC) launched ‘Project Yuva Bhagidari’ to promote Swachh Bharat Mission. This special training and community participation program was launched at an inaugural ceremony held at Cotton University on Thursday. Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya inaugurated the program. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Garlosa, Major General Gagan Deep (Army Medal, Distinguished), Additional Director General, NCC North Eastern Region, and other senior military and civilian officers were present on the occasion. About 500 NCC cadets participated in the inaugural ceremony, demonstrating the commitment of the youth of Assam towards nation building.

Swachh Bharat Mission is a comprehensive initiative, which is successfully promoting public participation across the country. In this direction, NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati has launched 'Project Yuva Bhaagidari', under which cadets of Senior Division/Senior Wing of NCC will be trained as trainers and monitors. Through this initiative, cleanliness will be made a mass movement in Assam.

The main objective of this project is to increase awareness towards cleanliness, strengthen communication skills and campaign strategies and encourage community participation. This program will be conducted in three phases. In the first phase, 60 cadets will be given special training for 30 days, who will train other cadets in the further phases.

Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya said in his address that NCC is a symbol of national unity, discipline and spirit of service. He inspired the cadets to participate in this program with enthusiasm, creativity and dedication. He said, All of you can become catalysts to spread the message of cleanliness in the society and bring positive change.

The Governor congratulated the ADG of North-Eastern Region of NCC and the entire team of NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati for this important initiative. Cadets trained under this project will play a vital role in instilling the values of cleanliness and Swachhata Mission in their communities.
