Sonitpur (Assam), 29 January (HS): On Wednesday, a dharna program was organized by the CPI-M District Committee in Charduwar for the distribution of land lease, giving land lease to tea workers, giving lease to farmers in exchange for small premium under Mission Basundhara, stopping the process of displacing farmers, among many other demands.
Hundreds of protesters carrying posters and banners raised various slogans and created a ruckus outside the Charduar Revenue Circle Office. The protesters said that the government is ignoring the interests of farmers and workers.
During the dharna, the CPI-M leaders sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma through the Revenue Officer's office, appealing to accept their demands.
