Delhi, 23 January (H.S.) : Naresh Balyan, Uttam Nagar MLA from Aam Aadmi Party, arrested in MCOCA case, said during the hearing of interim bail plea in Delhi High Court that there is no MCOCA case against him. Justice Vikas Mahajan ordered to hear Naresh Balyan's bail plea on January 28.

During the hearing, senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, appearing for Naresh Balyan, said that the day he got bail in a case related to extortion, he was arrested in the MCOCA case on the same day. However, while granting bail in the extortion case, the court had said that no money transaction was found against Balyan. Pahwa said that in two confessional statements, Balyan was said to be a part of the syndicate. Balyan's name was taken in the confession and that too on a blank paper, whereas the confession should be recorded in a free environment.

Pahwa said that the confession is sent to the magistrate, where the accused signs in front of the magistrate, but this procedure was not followed here. The trial court rejected this statement saying that the confession will be examined in the trial. Pahwa said that he is a two-time MLA and he was arrested in November 2024 before the elections, due to which his ticket was cut and given to his wife. Now he should be given interim bail for his wife's election campaign. Pahwa said that Balyan had complained of extortion in 2021, 2022, 2023 and Delhi Police also provided security on the basis of that complaint, but later arrested Balyan in the same case.
